The northwest Valley — Surprise, Peoria, and the Sun City communities between them — may hold more RVs per household than anywhere else in Arizona. Resorts like Sunflower RV Resort and Happy Trails RV Resort in Surprise fill every winter; tens of thousands of retirees in Sun City, Sun City West, and the newer Peoria subdivisions along Loop 303 keep rigs at home year-round; and Pleasant Harbor RV Resort at Lake Pleasant, up in Peoria's north end, runs its own weekend-and-season scene on the water. Spring training doubles down on all of it — Surprise Stadium and the Peoria Sports Complex put visiting rigs across both cities every February and March.

Parked-long rigs and the departure problem

West Valley rigs sit — gloriously, for months — and sitting is the local failure mode. Slides stay out for a season and their seals bake; slides stay in through a summer and the mechanisms dry. Furnaces get their first real test on the same January cold snap for the whole community at once. And the signature call: departure week, when a rig that hasn't moved since October needs everything to work on the same morning. The counter-move is boring and effective — a systems check a month before departure (see the arrival prep guide; the checklist works in reverse in March). For everything that fails anyway, a tech at the house beats a shop run down Grand Avenue (US-60) with a slide that won't close.

Mobile-first, because the alternative is a shop wait

Dealer and shop service departments serve the whole region from a handful of locations, and in snowbird season their schedules stretch out for weeks. A mobile technician who already works this area comes to the RV instead — at a home, a resort site, a storage facility, or a campsite — and most house-system problems (AC, refrigerator, slides, roof, furnace, generator, electrical, plumbing) can be diagnosed and often fixed in that single visit.

Also serving nearby: Sun City, Sun City West, Glendale, El Mirage, Waddell, Youngtown.
